Pipeline construction and recultivation

Printer-friendly version

Recultivation (restoration) of the area always forms an integral part of the pipeline construction projects. The completed trunkline will be a 10 m wide grassy stripe, and it will not lose its character as a forest or green area. Vegetation will fully and naturally recover along the safety zone, which is regularly cultivated and mown area, and minor trees, bushes and scrubs will grow all over the presently empty working area. As part of the recultivation the Forestry Department always prescribes the project company to plant a so-called replacement forest within the agglomeration region. This forest area in Pilis will be 2.5-times larger, so we will plan 34 hectare new forest in the region as an in-kind replacement of the 13.4 hectare area, which is affected by the construction of the new gas pipeline across the forest.
