Report on the year 2024 data of the Hungarian natural gas system is now available
2025. 12. 17.
The domestic natural gas supply was uninterrupted through 2024. Annual consumption increasing by only 0.7% year-on-year, with the highest gas traffic day reaching a consumption of 50 million m3. Last year, Hungary's transit role in south-north gas deliveries further strengthened: more than four times as much natural gas - 2.5 billion m3 - was delivered to Slovakia compared to 630 million m3 in 2023.
Commercial storage facilities reached high filling levels even before the summer peak, owing to the high European import capacity, favourable procurement periods, and the stabilization of consumption levels. Energy prices, influencing the variable costs of system operators, decreased significantly by 2024, resulting in a decrease volumes driven transmission fees for all system operators.
